NAMED TO JOINT COMMITTEE FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSING
MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Board of Nursing recently named Melissa Hatter,
CNM, MSN, RN, of Montgomery, to serve on the Joint Committee for
Advanced Practice Nursing.A graduate of the University of Alabama with a Master of Science in Nursing degree from East Carolina University, Mrs. Hatter is a Certified Nurse Midwife in collaborative practice at OB-GYN Associates of Montgomery. She holds numerous professional certifications and has published on the subject of midwifery. The Joint Committee makes recommendations to the Alabama Board of Nursing and the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners relating to practice between Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse Midwives and their collaborating physicians. The Committee is composed of three licensed physicians and three advanced practice nurses. Ms. Hatter will serve in the position reserved for a Certified Nurse Midwife; her term begins October 1, 2014, and will expire on September 30, 2017.
